Seems like this is one place that’s aptly named! I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions and photos and am glad your adventures (and misadventures!) ended happily. We visited DV once upon a time, but obviously it’s time for a return visit—though I think we’ll wait til winter!

Haha! Yes indeed, Ruth. Of all the National Parks in the Southwest DV is probably the wildest. The dunes at Stovepipe Wells are where we first fell in love with the desert. Incredible that such places are not that long a drive from LA (how we miss jumping in the car and setting out on an adventure).

I can’t wait to return!

I wonder if you’ve ever visited Badlands National Park in South Dakota. That’s another wild and haunting place—one more sculpted landscape that’s a photographer’s dream.
